Why Pod & Rind?
Well, when we started thinking about making Tracy her own blog and landing page, we struggled over what to call it.
"Vanilla Love Story" was the original title that we started with, an instagram page that the younger, tech-ier members of the Reddekopp clan had started years ago to capture our family outside of the business. Perhaps we will one day find the password for that account. We decided that name was passé. We wanted something new, something fresh.
So we started playing with "Vanilla Lemonade," after our flagship culinary offering from the Hawaiian Vanilla Mill. We wanted a name that would capture memories of the Mill, of the Hawaiian Vanilla Co. at its infancy, of Jim and Tracy's small sons asking customers if they would like a vanilla iced tea or wemonade?
Tragically, that domain name was taken.
Pod & Rind was chosen during a brain storming session, born from the key components of the vanilla lemonade: Citrus, and vanilla. Apart they are simply ingredients; Side characters, background extras, that little pop of color in an otherwise bland creation. When combined, however, citrus and vanilla become the main characters, the power couple at the front of your palate.
It is, simply, the marriage of flavors.
We felt Pod & Rind an ample title for the story of Tracy and Jim, the Reddekopp family, the Hawaiian Vanilla Company: Where we've been, and where we're going.
